Outreach Education - (CLOE)

Professional Development Opportunities

Lifelong Learning embraces the philosophy that it is never too late to learn, update, or improve knowledge, skills and competence. Building a dynamic lifelong learning program for the professional development of our alumni, partners and social workers in the field is a current CLOE goal. Three types professional development currently exist and are being expanded over the next two years. These include annual educational events on the Western Slope and in southern Colorado; providing specialized training and educational presentations for specific groups and organizations [place CCP link to training page here]; and a growing calendar of continuing education offerings of training/education opportunities in Fall and Spring semesters. Please watch the School of Social Work (SSW) Home Page and Calendar for the posting of all current and new professional development opportunities through CSU SSW.

CSU is the Colorado Land Grant University which provides many unique opportunities with our partner CSU Extension. Through the relationship established with CSU Extension over the years, CLOE has recently partnered with Extension on two major professional development projects. First was the development of a train-the-trainer program for the Colorado State Highway Patrol which focused on the impact of stress on relationships. The second project was the development of two three credit hour courses, Family Centered Work I & II, which were created in response to a request by the Head Start providers in Colorado. The Family Centered Work courses are offered in collaboration with the Extension non-credit Family Centered Development Credential training.
