MSW Field Education

Our 62 credit hour MSW program has two field placements. The foundation curriculum placement taken within the first 31 credit hours requires that students complete 268 hours of internship. The concentration curriculum placement taken over the last 31 credit hours requires 720 internship hours. Students with a BSW from an accredited school may be admitted as advanced standing students, requiring 720 internship hours. Preparing students for advanced generalist practice is the focus of the MSW field program. During the foundation field placement students master the social work practice roles of advocate, broker, community change agent, counselor, mediator, and researcher. The concentration placement focuses upon developing students’ social work practice roles of administrator/manager, clinician, community expert, consultant/evaluator, and supervisor.

The School of Social Work also offers a MSW program in Colorado Springs. This cohort model consists of three years of study in a part-time, year round format.

With the vital components of a motivated student, dedicated field instructors, and an involved faculty, the field experience of the School of Social Work moves our students toward the attainment of their goals of professional skills and abilities.
